Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge DT Creation

Good morning to you all in the land of blog

I just have to say I still cannot believe I am going to say this

Today sees the new challenge at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and the theme this week chosen by the very talented Wendy is

Anything that Flies

We have a fab sponsor for this month. SOME ODD GIRL have very generously offered a prize of $9 voucher for digi's of the winner's choice.
All of the Design Team Members were asked to use images from the sponsor this week, however at the time as I was only a Guest Designer I did not have too, so I had to think and search all of my images to find something that I felt would present this theme well for them.  I eventually settled with this Whiff of Joy image, she is an oldy but a goody and is taller than most of my stamps so fitted for what I wanted to create.

I had bought a tall white candle and felt that I just needed to decorate it.  So here is what I did with it
I think you would call this a 3 Dimensional photograph, trying to show the top and the front of the candle.  I stamped the black stazone onto tissue paper and then cut out the image with a little bit of clear around the stamp.  I then turned the image over as copics and stazone do not really work well together, but by turning it over the black ink does not seem to smudge.  I then coloured her in and added glitter sakuro to her wings.  Once fully coloured I placed her on the candle and covered in greaseproof paper before heating it till the image looks wet, removing the grease proof to leave the image nicely placed.  I used the same process for the other sentiments.  The velvet ribbon around the top is from Running with Scissors, although I did see it again at the Doncaster Dome whilst shopping on Sunday.
I added stickles to the swirls and also liquid pearls, these and the copics all of which can be purchased at the Secret Crafter shop here

I was not sure what other challenges that this might fit into but I found the following

Crafts and Me - A Christmas Gift
Fab N Funky - Clean and Simple
Now don't forget to pop over to the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge to see what all my other teamies (see still love saying it) have created.

Thank you to all my lovely visitors that leave me such wonderful comments

Enjoy your weekend

Hugs Kate xx

Stampin With The Dragon DT plays with Kenny K

Good Afternoon to you all in the land of Blog
This fortnights challenge at Stampin With The Dragon is helping us prepare for Christmas, so with that in mind here is the first lot of excitement of the very special and fabulous sponsor for the new challenge

Elena & Kenny K Digital Downloads

who very kindly gave the DT ladies some fabulous images to work with.

Kenny was so kind to offer the following as prizes:

1st place: 3 images

2nd place: 2 images

3rd place: 1 image

The challenge is to use this lovely sketch

Please pop and see what the fabulous ladies of the Design Team have created to inspire you

This is my DT creation for this week, the first one I created did not use the sketch (missed that bit) so did another too, really enjoyed myself, fabulous images to play with.
This card has a green mirror card base layer and has some lovely papers from a large 12 x 12 stack of GCD Studio papers (A Christmas Stack not sure of the exact name - papers are very similar to those in the Papermania, Silent Night pack but are double sided and so much better for those bigger projects)  Each of the layers has been framed in the mirror card and then the Kenny K Santa has on this one been sort of squeezed a little thinner when inserting him into the word package to allow him to fit the sketch.  I added some little green snowflakes down the side with little red pearls for their centres. The sentiment is a Papermania.
I coloured him with copics and went for the true colour of Santa which is green I believe.  he was fabulous to colour and I used a gel pen to highlight.

This was the creation without the sketch (oops) but to enter the challenge you must, but could not resist showing you all.
This one not following the sketch, I have reversed the colours so the red mirror card as the base layer and then some more of the GCD Studios 12 x 12 stack but using the green's this time.  I added a little lace the snowflakes in the red mirror card with the little green pearls.  The MS punch and the glitter red ribbon with more little pearls to add that finishing touch.
The image again this time in the familiar reds but I have coloured the background in with a Tim Holtz peeled paint ink.

I am entering the following challenges
Cards for Men - Anything Goes
Crafty Sentiments - A Male project
Two Sisters Challenge - Anything Goes

thank you to all my recent visitors and my new followers and thank you to all of you who take the time to leave such lovely comments

don't forget to pop over to Stampin with the Dragon to enter this challenge you have plenty of time as the challenges run fortnightly

Have a great weekend

Winter Wonderland DT - Have a Mousey Christmas

Good morning to you all in the land of blog
Today sees the next challenge at Winter Wonderland, but as always I cannot move on with out saying how fabulous the entries were into my recipe challenge last week, some great baking went on and some stunning creations, really enjoyed hopping about to see all you talented crafters.

The new challenge this week at Winter Wonderland is hosted by the very talented Lynsey and our sponsor is
Whimsy Stamps and the theme is

Have a Mousey Christmas (show a mouse on your creation)

I could not resist the first inking of my winning Whiff of Joy stamp that I won from Jane at Jane's lovely cards and felt that this was the perfect opportunity to present her

Here is my DT creation for this week

It is an easel card and I used gold mirror card on the base and the papers are from the Papermania Silent Night stack.  I used an MS punch and a Nellie die for the image plate. I used a brilliance ink (an olive one oh I think that is correct) to edge the image.  The ribbons from stash not sure where purchased from now sorry but the bottom bow creation is a pull ribbon.  The pearls from the Hobby House and the sentiment on the easel came with the stamp and the inner is a Papermania. The flowers are from a local department store and a little gold stickles was added for the Christmas feel.  I used the stickles around the edges too after I had distressed them so the stickles would just pick up lightly.  The charm just showing near the ribbon is also from the Hobby House.

Here is a close up of the inner return and the pulled bow.
This is the close up of the image, I used copics to colour and a white gel pen for the highlights, I did use a little atyou glitter but it does not show up in the photograph.
So sweet isnt' she.

I am entering this creation into the following challenges

Creative Cottage - whose theme is embossing I embossed the Nellie die and also by hand embossed the image gold plate
Simon Says Stamp - whose theme is Punch Em!!
ABC - whose letter is G for Glitter (I have used glitter around all the distressed edges)
Papertake - whose theme is Sparkly and Bright
A Spoonful of Sugar - whose theme is Lets Get Punchy!!
Cupcake - whose theme is Sweet Treats
Aly's Sunday Challenge - whose theme is Distressed I have distressed the edges of all the papers and inked around the image and sentiment
Lots to Do - who would like to see an Easel Card or Shaped Cards
Totally Gorjuss - who would like to see Sparkle

Thank you to my lovely visitors for your inspirational comments, I love it when you leave comments as it allows me to return the visits.

This will post whilst I am at work courtesy of Mr Blogger and his effective scheduling and with hope at some point during the day I will be able to link the challenges up.  If not I will do this after I have been shopping, no not more craft shopping but food shopping, I know not as much fun but well it has to be done doesn't it?

Have a great weekend all

Such a pretty Christmas Angel

Good morning to you all in the land of blog

Just a quick post before I leave for work today

I have been dying for a couple of days to use this delish new manga from the Secret Crafter and last night I found a little time.

Here is what I created
I used some of my new stash to create this and actually the left overs from another card.  The base layer is hammered green card, from the Hobby House and the top layer is from stash.  The gold outer frame is the left overs from the inner die and I thought it looked so nice and it would frame an image quite perfectly, what do you think?  I used the swirls from the same Marianne Creatable set to add the flourishes adding little white roses and red diamante gems.  The sentiment is a MSE and I inked the edges of this to match the inking on the oval deckled edge nestie.  I used a hollie punch to frame the sentiment. I used a sakuro clear glitter pen for her wings, eye lids and her little shoes

This is one of the new images from the secret crafter and it can be purchased here

She was so beautiful to colour and I used my copics.

I am going to enter this into the following challenges

Stampavie and More - the theme Xmas
and
Creative Card Crew - who are getting Punchy

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome my new followers and would like to thank all my visitors who take the time to leave me such wonderful comments

So that is me and I am now off to work :(

cya back tomorrow morning for the next fabulous challenge at Winter Wonderland and if you haven't entered this weeks then hurry over here to join in

Have a great day

Doncaster Dome Retail Therapy

Good evening everyone

only one carrier bags worth but lots of new things to play with and I cannot wait.  So with that said off to firstly find a new home for the purchases and secondly off to play

But before I go I cannot leave with out saying thank you to all of those lovely visitors who have left such heart warming and wonderful comments and to my new followers, it is lovely to see you joining me, hope you don't get too bored :)

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge DT - New Manga Stamp Release

YES YES YES and Yes!!!!!!! whoop whoop, this is my EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!

The lovely and very talented Jane and Wendy from the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge, have asked me to be a permanent Design Team Member, this lovely request just iced the cake for me this month :)

Of course I accepted so quickly, before they changed their minds - it has really been such a struggle not to scream in blog land all week, think I just about managed it. What do you think?

So the new challenge is on at the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge Blog but as always I just cannot move on to the next challenge with out mentioning the stunning entries in the last challenge, I really enjoyed hopping about and leaving some love where ever I dropped.

The theme this week is

USE A MANGA IMAGE

I was so very very very lucky to win four of these little beauties and I can tell you that they are simply amazing to work with and colour.  I was a little jealous last week as the DT were using some Oriental ones and they were fabulous................

Here is what I created for our Manga challenge prior to the new release, oh don't you all just want to lay on a fluffy white rug like her?
I am entering this into these challenges
Crafty Catz (well what a perfect challenge for her) - black, white and one other colour (bronze)
Scrapbook Sisters - Pets Galore (well she is one hot pussy cat)

Luckily for me yesterday saw two new manga releases,  I had time to use one of them prior to todays post going live "Christmas Sledging" and you can purchase yours in the Secret Crafter Shop, along with lots of other goodies. (link on my sidebar)

This is Christmas sledging

which can be purchased here for a fabulous price of only £2.99

and this one is Christmas Angel

which can be purchsed here for a fabulous price of only £2.99

aren't they just amazing!!!!

I have made another Christmas card, my stack is growing so nicely and I have managed to keep to my new years promise of making one a week and then some, and who would not with this little beauty.

Here is my very first actual Design Team creation

The base card is silver mirror card, and on top of this is layered papers from the Dovecraft, Let is Snow stack.  I tried to stick to the aqua's in the stack.  The sentiment is an MSE and the punched edge is a MS, the ribbon is by Papermania along with the little bow, it is part of the Capsule Collection of Mono papers. I have added some little blue pearls and some silver punched snowflakes. A true Winter Wonderland feel to the card.

It has been some time since I showed the inner of the card, here I have used another MSE sentiment and matched the papers from the front of the card.

As always here is a close up of the gorgeous image coloured with copics.

This image is currently only available as a digi, but the others are also available as clear stamps.

Oh don't you remember your younger days in the snow on the sledges, we have some amazing hills for it in our area.

Please pop over to the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and see what (oh gonna love saying this) my very talented teamies have created :)

I would like to welcome my new followers and say thank you to my recent visitors who have taken the time to leave such inspiring words, and Mandy sorry for the suspense.....

and would also like to thank the ladies at Mad for Markers who sent my winning three copics, in Pinks, all the way from Australia and they arrived today, safe and sound with a lovely smiley on the box, and working well (I just had to use them on this image, well you would wouldn't you)

I am entering this creation into

Fussy N Fancy - Winter Wonderland
Charisma - Vintage (I think this image portrays a vintage feel)
Paperplay - Blue, orange and Olive - the main card in the blues with the orange and olive in the image
Colour Create - Purple, Aqua and White - the main card in the blue aqua shades, with purple and white on the image.
Caardvarks - Inside and Out
and the sketch I used was from The Pixie Cottage and  I also think this image is so sweet

Have a great weekend
Hugs

Here is a close up of the image coloured with copics, can you see how I punched out the butterfly out of the turquoise paper just perfectly to capture the butterfly image on the paper :)

what a cutie, I used a white gel pen to add the highlights and the sentiment was one from another stamp set sorry not sure which one.

and we are sponsored by our regular monthly sponsor
Gutted I cannot enter myself as I have not for some time been shopping with them but must remind myself to do so, after my Doncaster Dome Shopping Spree on Sunday :)

Here is my Design piece for this week
I think that this Whiff Of Joy image is one of my all time favorites, she is such a doll and beautiful to colour.  The base layer is gold mirror card.  The top papers are by Craft Creations and I purchased these at the Hobby House.  There are several colours to choose from.  I cut the front square into two traingles diagonally and ran a thin strip of gold across the join.  The image and image plate surround is a nestie and I used some green glitter and a glitter pad to create her swirly frame.  The ribbon is from stash.  The snowflake is acetate cut out with a cuttlebug die and then glass crystals glued onto this.  The large green brad and the charm are also from the Hobby House. I used liquid applique for her fluffy bits.

Here is the image on a close up showing the copic colouring
Isn't she a stunner :)

I am entering this creation into the following challenges

Crafty Purple Frog Challenge - who have a theme of Anything Goes
Southern Girls - who want to see our Glitter

Good afternoon to you all

Today is the DT Showcase and my first time as a fully fledged Design Team Member, I have received such a warm welcome from the existing team and they have produced some awesome creations.  Why not pop over and take a look here
The base card is lime green and the red paper on top is from a DCWV stack called Christmas Wishes, not sure where the 2nd layer came from as it was a remnant from my stash.  The image is cut using a circle nestie and the image plate frame is a circle scallop nestie.  I have added claret stickles dots around the frame and some Papermania green pearls around the edge of the card.  The image is Happy Christmas Jiggy and can be purchased here and I used liquid applique or his fluff.

I am entering this into the Crafty Catz challenge - who have a theme of Nursery Rhyme or a Song - this takes me back years to a favorite movie Pete's Dragon, but will have to link to Puff the Magic Dragon as not sure if the movie had any songs I remember in it.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge GDT - Oriental

Morning to you all in the land of blog :)
Here we are again on a lovely Saturday morning with another challenge at the

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge,

although I cannot move on till I tell you how much I enjoyed hopping around to see around a third of the numerous fabulous entries into last weeks challenge, my we have some lovers of distressing out there and such talented crafters too.
Moving on then, this weeks challenge is

ORIENTAL

As most of you who know me will already know, I do tend to like a challenge and this is definitely what I got in creating this Oriental card for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge this week.

It required me to frantically search through my draws and over my shelves to locate some thing I could use.

I then did some research to identify that Oriental is usually very slim cards, with clean lines, boxes and vibrant colours.

I located (now please don't shout at me - as I already know) some peel-offs, (I do think that these can look great and that it depends on how you use them) I feel I have used these quite tastefully.  I picked out some vibrant blue sort of holographic turquoise/blue mirror card and placed the peel-off onto the card and then cut around it very carefully.  I used the remaining mirror card to create an edge around the card and a frame around each image.  Oh dear this did not look quite right, however my son picked up some ribbon and draped it over the edge and said there you go. He just wanted me to hurry up, to benefit him.  Now it did not quite look right with the images centred and the ribbon down each edge so I off set the images and then it just added that finishing touch whilst keeping the clean lines.

So now you have had your appatite wet here is what I finally produced and the more I look at it the more I like it.  This could be used for any occasion or as a notelet.
You cannot really see the gorgeous mirror card colours which is a shame
You can just see the colour in places on this close up, and I would be very happy to wear this for a night out wouldn't you?

I am entering this card into the Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog Challenge - whose theme is ribbons

I would like to say thank you to Crafty Emma's Store Challenge for my win this morning
If you would like to be challenged or have a go at an oriental card then pop over to the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and look at the rest of the teams fabulous inspiration and then give it a go, cannot wait to see your work.

Hugs Kate

Winter Wonderland DT Christmas Card - Give it the Vintage Look

Good morning to you all out there in the land of blog
Today is Friday and as always this rings in the beginning of the weekend but more importantly the commencement of the new challenge at Winter Wonderland and the beginning of another week off from work whoop whoop

For those of you following the saga of the we cannot see Mr Linky on our 64 bit new machines, well after a few more updates, Sue very kindly let me know she could see him, so I have been to check and yes I can now too

Although we cannot move on with out mentioning all those fabulous creations from such talented people that entered last weeks challenge, they were pretty awesome I can tell you and I enjoyed visiting each and everyone of you.

This week at Winter Wonderland the Challenge is being hosted by our very talented Janet or some of you may know her as Clarky J.  she has chosen this weeks challenge theme as

GIVE IT THE VINTAGE LOOK

We are sponsored by Teri
who is offering the random winner 3 fabulous digi images, how cool is that?

So if you fancy having a go pop over here

I love going vintage but usually end up really messy, but that is what creating is all about isn't it?

Here is my DT card for this week.
The base colour card is hammered green and the papers used are my current favorites which lend themselves so well to vintage which are Papermania the Silent Night collection.  I have used Tim Holtz vintage photo and a make up sponge to stain all the edges.  The little tag's image is one from the internet printed off onto photo paper to give it a sheen. I aged a round doily too to sit the tag on top of.  The ribbon is another current favorite, I have a green version and this deep claret.  I added some pearls large and small in gold from the Hobby House and used my punches to create the flowers in the same papers. Yep my hands are nicely brown now.

Here is the close up of the tag image

He looks like he is having such fun doesn't he and the little greeting rhyme was just perfect.

I will be entering this card into the following challenges
A Spoonful of Sugar - whose theme is Winter Wonderland, well he looks like he is having a wonderful time in the snow :)
Crafty Emma's Store (CES) Challenge - with a theme of A Tag
Anything Goes - with a theme of Ribbon
ABC Challenge - with a theme of Flowers

Once again thank you so much for all my wonderful visitors and to those of you who leave such inspirational comments which then enables me to come visit you in return to see your fabulous work also.

Think that is about it oh other than to say have a great weekend and Happy Crafting

Hugs Kate xx

An Emergency Light Box

Good afternoon to you all
Oh my was yesterday horrid, not in the creative sense but in the sort out the brand new computer sense.  6 hours to reinstall everything again, in an attempt to find out why Mr Linky cannot be seen by a 64 bit Windows machine using Explorer 8 or Firefox.

This is not just my issue........................there are several of us who have upgraded our machines only to find out that we are then unable to see the Mr Linky on Challenges or Candy posts.  We are not having issues with the blue froggy he appears to be user friendly to us.

I sit opposite my hubby in my office and he has a 64 bit machine and explorer 8 and he can see it.............. so it is very frustrating................a plea if you have any ideas or have managed to solve your own issues, please would you be so kind as to pass on how you did this, thank you :)

Onto the crafting bit then :)  I have in between my GDT and DT crafting been working towards a few little creations.  This is one of them and I hope you like it, I am going to give it to a friend as a thank you as she spent an awful lot of time and is still searching for an answer to the above.

I was entering this into the Let's Get Shabby Challenge which is a photo inspiration challenge - I was choosing kitchen number 2 however I forgot to stick to the required recipe but never mind, I will see what else it might fit into.

The little box was purchased at a local department store in a wood state.  I painted it with gesso and then painted onto of this with some Oyster Acrylic paint, it looks a little silver here but in the natural light it is a gorgeous pearlised creamy white with a hint of the mother of pearl.  I added the ribbon and created the bow, the ribbon was also from the same department store (see where I shop above)
The clasp was a little lose so Matt addressed this for me with some really strong glue.
The wording is computer generated and free hand cut out and the roses are cut out from some lovely paper that was in my stash.
The candles from another cheap local shop and the inner was painted in gesso and then the pale pink.  The papers that edge the sides again from stash.
The computer generated wording was a quote I found on a web site, but there was not name to go with it.
Decided to take an angle shot to see if I could show you more, not sure if it worked.

I am entering this into the following challenges

ABC Christmas - U = Under the Tree
One Stop Craft - Alter It

Thank you all of my recent visitors who left some amazing comments

OK I am now going to hit the ironing with the new iron (not sure if I told you but last week the ironing did not get done as the old iron thermostat had a blip and I put the iron straight through my work trousers) so I have two weeks worth of ironing to get on top off - will watch the recorded Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor first live show to keep me going

Hope the rest of your Sunday is more pleasant than mine is going to be

Hugs
Kate xx
